(india/black) the largest area of tea production. assams are very heavily bodied, malty teas. when brewed it should be dark in the cup, about the color of weak coffee. it takes milk well. a satisfying, hearty, but definitely not overbearing tea.
assam tea estate which has the distinction of being india's first fully clonal tea garden, reputedly the best tea garden in assam. hajua estate assam has many leaf tips showing fine and costly harvesting technique. very big, full bodied, winey and malty flavor. one of the finest assam selections.

(india, black) organic and fair trade certified assam from rembeng estate. located amongst delightful green hills, the stunningly beautiful rembeng is a 100% organic tea garden. fine, whole leaf tea with some golden tips. sweet cupping, amber liquor. this estate was the first in assam to produce organic tea. completely untouched by artificial fertilizers of any kind, the unique rembeng teas are highly sought after. full body. good value.
(china, green) leaves are tightly rolled into small, round pellets, a task requiring much skill. the smaller rolls, such as ours, are called pinhead and represent the best grades. tighter rolls also remain fresh longer. medium bodied cup.
this tea is very popular in our busiest store so we decided to offer it to our many mail order customers. it is a blend of organic hand-picked green tea with organic ginko biloba leaf and and organic citronella.
(china, green) this mid-season steamed tea from china is in the japanese flat leaf sencha style but at a much more affordable price. numerous factors including availability of land, labor cost and tea preparation details permit this tea to be a bargain compared to the fastidious japanese version. this has an assertive vegetal twang and a distinct, bright green liquor.
the taste is delicately herbaceous and different than senchas from china or taiwan which are less herbal and more vegetal. quality and price vary widely, some senchas being wildly expensive. the liquor is pale yellow, the flavor delicate and soft. clean, crisp and invigorating.
(china/green) pale gold/green in the cup, jasmine is pouchong tea flavored with jasmine flowers. the flowers are picked during the day and placed next to the tea leaves at night, imparting their flavor to the tea. jasmine has a clean, delicate taste, scented with jasmine.
