the "birding" room - wrens and warblers is an upstairs room with a canopied queen bed and large bath. french doors open to a private balcony with a view to the north, across a mountain pasture with the peaks of the smokies in the distance. additionally, a celeste fireplace enhances the room with the charm and ambiance of a gently flickering fire. the room is decorated with a variety of bird prints, bird houses and books, inspired by the great variety of birds that visit the folkestone inn during the year. over 40 different birds were identified over one spring weekend!
the "railroad" room - tunnels and trestles is an upstairs room with a queen bed and reading area. french doors open to a balcony with a view to the east, across deep creek valley, with a backdrop of the smoky mountains foothills. the room is decorated with model trains, railroad prints and photographs, inspired by the great smoky mountains scenic railroad that runs through bryson city.
the "whitewater" room - boats and paddles is an upstairs room with a queen bed and a private balcony that overlooks the folkestone inn's grounds with a view across deep creek valley against a backdrop of the smoky mountains foothills. the room is decorated with prints and photographs of mountain river paddling, inspired by the whitewater rafting thrills that await you on the nantahala river and deep creek.
the "photography" room - lights and shadows is a bright and airy corner room upstairs, with an antique queen bed, balcony and reading nook. french doors open to a balcony with a view to the east, across deep creek valley, with a backdrop of the smoky mountains foothills. the room is decorated with a collection of old cameras and inspired by the thousands of "photographic moments" that the great smoky mountains provide. on the walls are photographs of a mountain family, shot in nearby sylva by photographer jim ayres.
the "motor touring" room - backroads and overlooks is a bright and airy room with a queen bed on the front corner of the main floor just off the parlor. it opens onto a covered porch on the south side of the inn. additionally, a celeste fireplace enhances the room with the charm and ambiance of a gently flickering fire. the room is decorated with old photos, license plates, maps, and postcards, inspired by the scenic highways that wind through western north carolina and the great smoky mountains.
