No longer the taboo of a night club, pole dancing is now a fun effective way to tone your body, build self confidence, and have a great time. Developed with the contemporary woman in mind, Smoke and Mirrors Fitness provides a 60 - 90 minute class that begins with a 30 minute warm-up incorporating stretching, yoga, Pilates, sensual and flirty dance movements, and strength training. Then on to pole work, where you will learn 2-3 pole tricks every class. We have plenty of space to spin, climb and flip on ten poles as tall as 15', both 2" and 1.75" round, which all have the capability to be spinning or stationary. Classes will also alternate use of a variety of props (chair, stage pole, shoes, etc.). The class ends with a routine or free dance where you immerse yourself in the music, using the movements taught in class. We encourage you to bring music requests. This 75 minute class was designed to familiarize new students with the concepts of pole fitness. A slow breakdown of movement and tricks, enabling you to feel at ease and comfortable in all areas.
This amazing class will help you discover a unique language of movement and sensual dance, focusing on breathing and a strong connection to your body. We emphasize building confidence and strength. This class will teach you the fundamentals of pole dance, floor work, basic spins, transitional movements and climbs. This class is progressive, each new move builds upon the last, increasing your strength and skill every class. You will learn dance routines that incorporate the tricks, transitions and floor work you learned in class. Students are generally ready to move on to the next level in 6-8 weeks.
In this class you will deepen your understanding of your body, focusing on your sensuality. The warm up is more challenging, with additional strength conditioning and core strengthening exercises added, to build strength and power on the pole. The warm up will end with a dance meditation for you to begin combining the sensual movement into your own natural dance. You will then continue to build on your movement and focusing on more advanced tricks, including inversions, combination spins, leg grips, one arm spins, and begin pole drills. You will be challenged with advanced inverted aerial tricks, mulitple comnination spins, transitions, and flips. Enjoy learning to explore, discover, and accept your bodies unique movenment on the pole.

If you are ready to show off your sexy attitude and dance moves, dance divas is the class for you! In this class you will learn a smokin' hot dance routine that includes pole and floor work, but focuses mainly on expressing a video vixen style. Guaranteed to get your heart rate pumping.
If you are looking for a cardio class that will shimmy away your mid-section, tighten and tone this class is for you! Hula hoop is a fun filled class with dance moves incoorporated into your workout.
Ballet is the foundation for all types of dance. In this class you will build long, lean and toned muscles by using the pole as your vertical ballet barre. This class is designed to teach you graceful body movements, positioning and poise. In this class, you will strengthen and tone your legs, glutes, and arms, while engaging your core. This class consists of a vertical barre warm-up, center-work, and across the floor technique. No previous dance or pole experience necessary.
This class allows you to work on putting your pole and dance skills together to create a beautiful flow of movement. Class will begin with a smoke & mirrors fitness warm up and then classmates will be split into groups for free flowing improv dance.
Use this time to perfect the material you learned in class. From floor work to pole tricks, here is your chance to practice your technique and fluidity. A smoke and mirrors fitness staff member will be there to answer any questions you have, but are not there to spot new tricks or provide new material.
Come celebrate with us! Book a pole dance party class with all your friends for a bachelorette party, birthday party, or just for a good time together. Parties range from 1- 2 hours and can include: pole dance, flirty floor work, and sexy lap and chair dance and twerking lessons.

I have always had a passion to move! I only have to hear a song for a couple seconds and my body begins to shift into motion. At the age of 3 my parents put me in ice skating to burn energy and from there I became a competitive ice skater. I then moved to dance and cheerleading. To keep connected to dance, during college I taught Hip Hop dance classes. After graduating from Cal Sate Fullerton, Cum Laude, with a degree in Political Science, I felt that a vital part of my life was missing, movement and dance! Not being fully satisfied with the amount of dance in my life, I began to seek other options. That's when I found pole dancing classes and instantly fell in love. It combines everything I need! For the past 5 years I have been able to dance, get my strength building workout, and bring in my ice skating experience with tricks on the pole. Pole dancing has become my escape from reality and it is MY time to do what I love. I wanted to share my experience with pole fitness with as many people as possible so I chose to open my own studio, Smoke and Mirrors Fitness, with my fun loving partner, Stacey. We are excited and eager to facilitating our passion for pole dance, which provides a healthy workout, confidence, sensuality, and a whole lot of fun.
When it comes to Pole Fitness, Jamie has one philosophy - move like nobody is watching! She believes that each Smoke and Mirrors class is an opportunity for each individual to express themselves. I was first introduced to Pole Fitness about 3 years ago when a close friend asked me to attend a new intro class with her. Well, long story short, I've been addicted ever since. I fell in love with the sensual side of pole fitness, but most of all I enjoy the strength it has given me inside and out. It's a place where you can leave your thoughts and worries at the door and express yourself through dance. The confidence it has given me outside of class was surprising. I thought I was just getting a really good workout in, but the confidence I have received from dancing at SMF has been applied into my everyday life and I didn't even know it at first. It hasn't been easy and I am still learning to be a strong, sexy and confident woman. I encourage all women to give this sport a try and to not let others hold you back on being adventurous and doing something for yourself. Fun facts about myself: I love to travel. I'm a bit of a daredevil and I will try anything at least once. I'm into snowboarding, surfing, yoga, running and simply being outdoors.
With her passion and over 14 years of training in ballet, surprisingly Carolyn has been addicted to pole dancing immediately after taking her first pole intro class!! After pole dancing for a while, she has found more and more pole dance movement is actually 'ballet inspired', which is absolutely artistic and elegant. This has totally changed her perception that pole dance must be equivalent to sexy! Even though she does not have a curvy body shape, she can still interpret her dance in her own style with both freedom of movement in pole dance and her ballet technique. Here is her favorite quote: Dance is like handwriting, everyone has a different style! In free time, Carolyn enjoys kick boxing, swimming, cooking, wine tasting, hand crafting and travelling.
Lola Singer started pole dancing at age 41 and understands how intimidating it can be to walk into a class not knowing what to expect. She has always been active and enjoys most outdoor recreational activities, with a passion for Mountain Biking. Lola admits that she was quickly humbled when the teacher of her first pole class instructed to "pull yourselves up the pole" and Lola was unable to do so. It was this defeat along with the teacher and other student encouragement that hooked her to come back and keep trying. At age 45, Lola entered her first competition, The Pacific Pole Championships! Lola is a great example of what you can accomplish by simply trying something new. As your instructor, Lola will compassionately encourage each student to dig deep, finding new triumphs for your pole fitness journey.
Kathryn's the greatest joy is seeing her students learn that with drive and dedication, they can accomplish any goal. She loves motivating her students to help them achieve their potential and discover a passion for personal expression through movement. Kathryn has seven years of teaching experience in dance, including training in modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, partnering, and musical theater. Along with a life-long passion for dance begun at the age of four, she has studied and taught a variety of movement styles including gymnastics, aerial silks, lyra, acrobatics, tumbling, Shotokan Karate, Shaolin Kempo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and women's self-defense. Kathryn is majoring in Dance and Drama at the University of California at Irvine, and aspires to ultimately become professional performer in a modern dance company. Upon being introduced to Pole Fitness, Kathryn was deeply impressed by the strength, courage, and style embodied by the dancers. She was immediately struck by the similarities between pole fitness and other movement forms such as dance, gymnastics, and aerial work. She feels very blessed to have been given such a warm welcome into SMF's close community of pole-enthusiasts, and looks forward to creating a supportive and exciting environment within which each student is free to explore and grow.
I walked into my first Pole Fitness class a little over a year ago. Even though I couldn't land one trick or even spin around the pole it didn't discourage me and I kept trying. It took a very patient and motivating instructor for me to believe in myself. Throughout the year Pole Fitness has become my passion and an activity I found equally enjoyable and physically challenging. To me, it's liberating as a woman to feel sexy and get a kick ass workout at the same time. I find it important for everyone to find a physical activity they actually enjoy. In the past I dragged myself to gym and hated almost every moment. With Pole Fitness I lost fat, gained muscle tone and increased my flexibility. I am a work out fanatic. Every day of the week is filled with either Muay Thai, snowboarding, yoga, trail running, hiking, or a trip to the gym. To say I'm obsessed is an understatement.My initial reason for adding pole to my fitness regimen was to help develop more upper body strength for Muay Thai. However, something magical happened as I watched the instructors perform their demonstration free-dance; I became enamored with how seamlessly and effortlessly they incorporated the hard tricks with graceful and sensual movement. Insert light bulb moment... I had an epiphany. Despite my current strength, I lacked the empowered femininity these instructors exuded through their dance.In my opinion, femininity is not just a physical characteristic that can easily be shown by wearing a dress or putting on lipstick. Instead, femininity is that mental state of mind where you feel comfortable with being yourself and you openly embrace your strength and sensuality with confidence: the ultimate inner goddess.I will humbly admit that in the beginning, I personally found it challenging to marry my strength with femininity. Fortunately, with the supportive and nurturing atmosphere of the studio, it didn't take long for me to feel comfortable and attuned to my body and let go of my self-doubt. Now, I don't feel like I'm forcing myself to pretend to be a certain way: rather, I feel the femininity and confidence radiating from within.While my original motive to pole for strength building differs greatly from the unexpected self-journey that resulted, I am truly delighted with my self-epiphanies and hope for more to come! Everyone at the studio starts and tries pole for many different reasons and each journey is uniquely special. Rie has been involved in dancing on and off since the age of six. She first entered ballet, followed by tap and jazz. Ballet was her primary focus when she began teaching several years ago. However, at the urging of a fellow instructor, Rie reluctantly entered an aerial tissu/silks and lyra/hoop class. Her fear of the heights quickly ended, as she took to the air and was hooked! Within less than a year of aerial training, Rie became an aerial tissu/silks performer. She taught, performed and choreographed tissu/silks, lyra/hoop and aerial hammock for other aerialists. However, the joy of dancing in the air came to an abrupt end in the spring of 2011, when she endured a serious back injury while rehearsing for a performance. The back fracture and bulging discs nearly ended her dance career. Believing she would never dance again, Rie stepped away from the beautiful world of dance to focus on healing her injury. After nearly two years of rehabilitation, Rie was lucky enough to be reintroduced into her element when she found Smoke and Mirrors. Although her injury was initially devastating, Rie considers it a blessing in a way. The work she did to get back to where she was has given her a new perspective for all other dancers, whether they are injured, disabled, scared, nervous, or simply inexperienced. Rie believes the limitations we think we have are only opportunities to modify our joy and our life.
I've never been what you would call a "fit person". As a mother of two girls, I joined a gym like many women but I ended up bored & uninterested. One day I decided to try Smoke and Mirrors and the rest is history. That one day changed my life. I entered a room that was filled with support, motivation, empowerment & passion! Smoke and Mirrors is a place that will allow you to be yourself without judgment. I've learned so many different types of dance, flow & movement. I am very proud to say I am an elevatED Certified Pole Instructor. This program was instructed by the world renowned Marlo Fisken, designed specifically for pole instructors to have the proper tools & techniques to safely teach class. Each class helps you build core strength, flexibility and most importantly confidence! Pole fitness is a journey. If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you! Bryony Grace comes from a background in dance and music theatre, with a little bit of gymnastics thrown in there. After high school she spent 3 years studying classical music and musical theatre in Australia where she grew up, before moving to America to continue her studies in performing arts. During this time she discovered aerials, training mostly on static trapeze. After not too long she found herself missing the dance floor under her feet, and that's when she discovered pole. Pole is the perfect combination of everything she loves and she was hooked right away. She loves how versatile pole is, there is no 'type' when it comes to pole dancers. You may be flexible with a ballet background, or a super strong cross fitter, or neither but just damn good at dancing on the bar... or in your bedroom. Or perhaps someone who LOVES music and gets really bored in the gym. Pole has a way of welcoming all types and making them blossom. Teaching has become such a joy for Bryony Grace, she loves to see students get excited about taking on the next trick or spin or climb or movement. The thrill we all get when we nail that 'thing' we have been trying for ages is one of the best feelings in the world! She believes pole is THE BEST work out, and SMF is her sanctuary and her home away from home.
By the time Bad Azz was seven, the fantasy had begun. He would often sneak away from his scheduled gymnastic assignments to experiment with an unprecedented routine all on his own. By 16, he was hooked on the idea of becoming proficient, and he secretly purchased his own vertical, retractable pole for his bedroom. He practiced this obsession in secret, having no mentor to guide him. He knew his artist flow was taking him where no male before him had gone, and he was nonetheless undaunted. For the next three years, he studied insatiably to improve his craft. Hip hop, gymnastics, ballet, and contortion lessons filled his high school roster of events, before and after class hours. The result of this diligence is Bad Azz, the premiere male pole dancer in the United States. He has been featured on the Dr's Show. During this notable segment, the cast of The Doctors joked about men getting involved on the pole, and Bad Azz played the role a regular audience member challenged to try a trick or two. He dazzled their broad viewing audience with a skillful performance. He has been a recurring guest on the Jerry Springer Show, again featured as a gifted anomaly to the pole dancing community. He has also appeared on ABC Family, MTV, TruTV, La Hair and his own series of pole instructional videos, and countless brief television appearances and interviews. To date, he has won 1st Place in the Bad Kitty Spins and Tricks, 3rd as the American Male Pole Dance Champion NYC, and 2013 North American " Elite" Pole Dance Champion.
