Deep amber color. Distinctive flavor. Rich history. Anchor Steam Beer owes its deep amber color, thick, creamy head, and rich, distinctive flavor to a brewing process like none other. It is a process that combines deep respect for brewing tradition with many decades of evolution to arrive at a unique approach: a blend of pale and caramel malts, fermentation with lager yeast at warmer ale temperatures in shallow open-air fermenters, and gentle carbonation in our cellars through an all-natural process called kräusening
A medium-bitter pale ale with Old World hop flavor and aroma. Made with pale barley malt, it has a light body and clean finish. But what makes Saaremaa Island Ale exceptional is the native yeast that Brewmaster Mark Carpenter clandestinely brought back from his Estonian beer journey. It took months for Anchor to isolate and culture this special strain, so essential to the unique character of Saaremaa Island's indigenous beers. Anchor's trial brews confirmed that this yeast, reminiscent of some Belgian varieties, contributes a richly complex piquancy to this deliciously distinctive ale with overtones of freshly ground clove and allspice
Our Blood Orange Gose is a tart, refreshing wheat ale that is kettle-soured with lactobacillus and brewed with sea salt and coriander. However, unlike traditional versions of the style, ours features liberal additions of blood oranges during fermentation. This imparts tangy citrus notes that complement the champagne-like flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any occasion
This crisp and refreshing cider offers sweet apple notes up front with a subtle dryness at the finish for a balanced cider taste
In the 1700s one crafty brewer discovered that a healthy dose of hops and an increased alcohol content preserved his ales during the long voyage to India (as depicted in our label) to quench the thirst of British troops. Today, we tip our hat to that historic innovation by brewing Colorado's hoppiest pale ale. Avery IPA has a citrusy, floral bouquet and the rich, malty finish
Mephistopheles is the crafty shape shifter, the second fallen angel. Herein he patiently lies, waiting and willing to do your bidding, but for a price. Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety and liqueurish, this demon has a bouquet of vine-ripened grapes, anise and chocolate covered cherries with flavors of rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits and a double espresso finish. Enter into his darkness, a tangled and intricate labyrinth of bittersweet rapture. Mephistopheles is the final installment of "The Demons of Ale" series
A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or "white" ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that's yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curaçao orange peel producing a refreshingly zesty classic ale
Brewed with oats for creaminess and spiced with the perfect combination of orange peel and coriander. An unfiltered wheat ale spiced in the Belgian tradition for an uncommonly smooth taste
Who would have thought deep in the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Madagascar grew the perfect ingredient to build an extraordinary Porter in Colorado? An ale that has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavor of a classic Porter, with an enigmatic surprise thrown in for good measure, real vanilla bean. Breckenridge Brewery's Vanilla Porter. A vanilla kiss in a rich, dark sea
Inspired by great Trappist ales, our complex Belgian Style Pale Ale is fermented with the wild yeast Brettanomyces. Matilda pours a golden sunrise color with dried fruit and clove aromas, a spicy yeast flavor, and a satisfying dry finish.According to legend, a grateful Countess Matilda founded a monastery where, over centuries, monks have been brewing ale unique in character. While in Belgium, we were inspired by the story and the monks' beer. We returned to Chicago and brewed our homage a Belgian Style Pale Ale named Matilda
Did someone ask for hops? Tired of beers that promise a full lupulin experience, but never deliver more than richly malted bitterness? It's no secret that this is what we excel at. We've been brewing world class IPAs for years. Our flagship is the culmination of a decades worth of studying and brewing. Take a step above and acclimate to what an IPA should be
A very traditional take on this Bavarian classic. The aroma is everything we love in the style; clove, banana and vanilla. The body is rich and creamy, yet finishes fairly dry and is as refreshing as any beer you'll drink here or anywhere else
Lagunitas' only Lager, brewed with loads of imported Saaz hops and a bottom-fermenting yeast strain that leaves it a bit lighter with a lot of smoothness
Dark & delicious, America's great milk stout will change your perception about what a stout can be.The aroma is of brown sugar and vanilla cream, with hints of roasted coffee. The pillowy head coats your upper lip and its creaminess entices your palate. Initial roasty, mocha flavors rise up, with slight hop & roast bitterness in the finish. The rest is pure bliss of milk chocolate fullness
Widdershins is our oak aged, counter-clockwise, biennial barleywine-style ale. Floral and fruity notes of orange and apricot rest upon a foundation of oak, garlanded with earthy hop aromas and the sinister presence of peated malt. Our answer to waning daylight and frigid temperatures can be enjoyed immediately or saved in your cellar for a snowy day
Brewed with caramel malts and balanced with a bright blend of Crystal, Cascade and Simcoe hops
The quintessential rich, English brown ale. It is is sweet, malty, somewhat nutty, yet refreshing
We introduced 90 Shilling, our flagship beer, at our opening party in 1989. For a while, we'd been wondering what would happen if we lightened up the traditional Scottish ale? The result is an irresistibly smooth and delicious medium-bodied amber ale. The name 90 Shilling comes from the Scottish method of taxing beer. Only the highest quality beers were taxed 90 Shillings
Deep reddish amber hue.Generous toasty malt aromas and earthy hops follow through on a moderately full-bodied palate with fruity accents and a long spicy hop finish. A delicious hybrid style with bock-like maltiness but ale-like hopping
This newly reformulated Black IPA transcends style. The idea is simple, but the flavor is complex. It is everything you want in a great IPA, but with a little bit of chocolate. The crisp, dry punch of hops leaves you wondering how this beer has such a balanced flavor. The secret is Midnight Wheat. Aromas of passion fruit, citrus, and pine cut their way through the dark malts to both titillate and challenge the senses. The dry finish and dark ebony color are distinctive characteristics for this winter seasonal and make for a smooth and approachable beer for the masses
A Crisp Blonde Ale. Golden in color, medium in bodyshe's brewed with the help and the honey of Durango's Honeyville bees
The hibiscus flowers added in the whirlpool contribute so much to this beer: the pink color, the tart flavor and the intense floral and berry character. Orange peel adds some notes of tropical fruit flavors, which increases the refreshing quality of the beer
A Belgian quadruple with triticale, a hybrid grain combining the pleasant flavor of wheat with the elemental durability of rye, added to the brew
A collaberation beer from Heretic, Beachwood and Stone that has an intensely aromatic aroma with stone fruit, white wine and berries driving most of the hop character. Lots of yeast esters, a touch of alcohol, and a nice malt backbone follow after the hop aromatics. The taste is fruity, strong melon, tropical, and hints of citrus with a balanced malt character. The palate is dry and very bitter. Just the way we like it!
