the nose is reminiscent of a fresh spring day, with a sweet fresh grassiness, intertwined with the scents of blossoms and green apples. again, as in past vintages, this wine displays incredible depth and complexity, which makes it quite difficult to dissect the powerful array of aromas and flavors. we recommend spending some time with each glass and exploring the uniqueness and complexity of what we know will be a classic vintage for russian river valley sauvignon blancs. vintage: 2010; varietal: pinot noir; appellation: russian river valley
this wine displays a brilliant, almost sparkling lime green hue. the nose is beautifully complex with a rich depth of minerality, melon, and crisp grapefruit. the palate is powerfully refreshing. this minerality persists intertwining with the fruit as it expands across the palate to an almost seamless finish. small poping of tropical flavors and crisp clean acidity throughout the wines delicious journey. small hints of lime, sweet lemon-grass, and clean minerality help drive this complex and very satisfying sauvignon blanc to the last drop. vintage: 2011; varietal: sauvignon blanc; appellation: russian river valley
2009 will be known for a long time as an exceptionally good year for growing grapes in sonoma county. one of the regions finest appellations for growing zinfandel is the heralded ‘rockpile’ ava in the northern realms of the dry creek valley. the grapes grown for this wine came from several different blocks, which included 4 different clones taken from old vine block plantings of zinfandel throughout sonoma county. st. peters church clone is one of these clones, which has shown more than a few exceptional qualities grown in these sparse and rugged rock strewn soils that typify rockpile. vintage: 2009; varietal: zinfande; appellation: rockpile
2009 was again a much cooler growing season in northern california than we are accustomed to. the result of which is a pinot noir wine showing a great deal of finesse showing off a real sense of terroir and an abundance of sweet red fruits, with strawberry, raspberry and red currant fighting for the lime light. these aromas and flavors are backed up by notes of spice, red licorice, cola and perhaps a touch of menthol. vintage: 2009; varietal: pinot noir; appellation: russian river valley
the color of the wine is a deep red almost opaque. your nose will experience black cherries, plums, dried cherries, charcoal, toast, dried herbs, minerals, all setting into a varietal correct smell. the palate has a broad entry followed by a full-middle based feeling on the tongue. this wine is balanced and has good structure. lots of minerals, dustiness, dried fruits, pomegranate, roasted nuttiness, jolly ranchers, and sweet fruits add to a long tasty finish. vintage: 2008; varietal: merlot; appellation: russian river valley
hrough the process, the wine developed seductive aromas of peach, apricot, ginger and buttered toast. the wine is high in residual sugar yet incredibly balanced with a rich, complex, honeyed character.these grapes were affected by botrytis in about 10% of the clusters. as a result, the grapes achieved a high level of sugar without too much dehydration, thereby creating a wine full of wonderful freshness yet showing the special "noble rot" character. "noble rot" is a beneficial mold that grows on ripe white wine grapes in the vineyard under specific climatic conditions. through the process, the wine developed seductive aromas of peach, apricot, ginger and buttered toast. the wine is high in residual sugar yet incredibly balanced with a rich, complex, honeyed character. vintage: 2008; varietal: sauvignon blanc; appellation: russian river valley
