Templeton Rye - Prohibition Era Whiskey

When prohibition outlawed the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages in 1920, many enterprising residents of a small town in iowa chose to become outlaws – producing a high caliber and much sought-after whiskey known as templeton rye, or “the good stuff” to those in the know. Produced from the original prohibition era recipe and aged in charred new oak barrels, templeton rye provides a smooth finish and a clean getaway.

The Production Process

Only dedication to the entire process can achieve the proper balance that gives templeton rye its great rye character and surprisingly smooth finish that jim murray of the whiskey bibledescribed as "a huge, unmistakable rye. "

With Barely a Dozen Brands in the Category of Rye Whiskey, We Strive to Be the Best Among an Already Unique Bunch.

Starting with a Formula Born Out of a Family's Need to Maintain Their Livelihood During the Prohibition Era, Our Master Distillers Utilize the Original Kerkhoff Family Recipe – Unique for the Remarkably High Rye Content of Its Mash. For While Today a Mere 51 Percent of the Mash Bill Must Be Rye for a Whiskey to Legally Be Called a “Rye,” Templeton Rye Uses a Mash Made Up of More Than 90 Percent Rye Grains (and Malted Barley for the Remainder).

And While the Process Has Changed Some Since Prohibition, the Unyielding Attention to Detail Hasn’T Budged.

Boulevard Reverb Imperial Pilsner../ 750Ml

"You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? [Pause] these go to eleven. " - Nigel tufnel, this is spinal tap

"To Some Ears, the Term, "Imperial Pilsner" Might Sound Like an Oxymoron. How Can a Style as Cleanly Balanced and Refined as a Pilsner Be "Amped Up" to Imperial Status? Pilsner Is Arguably, Just Fine the Way It Is. Where Do You Go From There? The Answer, of Course: You Go to Eleven.

With its classic recipe and impeccable craftmanship, reverb imperial pilsner echoes our collaboration number 1 imperial pilsner, produced in 2009 when with esteemed orval brewmaster jean-marie rock. Like its predecessor, this new summer seasonal release is a study in delicately balanced contrasts. A strakly simple recipe, using only pilsner malt and saaz hops, combined with a painstakingly complex brewing process, produce a beer of subtle elegance. The venerable technique of "first wort hopping," -- adding hops at the beginning of the boil and allowing them to steep for a much longer time---gives the beer a refined hop aroma and flavor. Pilsner malt makes a clear yet restrained statement up front, answered by try steady, harmonious hum of hop bitterness, traces of which linger in the dry, crisp finish. Our reverb imperial pilsner pairs melodiously with grilled seafood or chicken, or a wide variety of cheeses. Really, though, it goes great with whatever is being served backstate.

2010 Sandhi Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills.

2010 Rita's Crown Chardonnay Cases

This is our first bottling from this promising site that is planted at the highest elevation in the region, hence the “crown of santa rita”. Planted at 600 to 1000 feet, rita’s crown is planted on diatomaceous soils, which are fossilized seashells and hallmarks of the appellation. This soil creates a mineral thread in the wines while adding more stress to the vines concentrating the fruit flavors. Our sections are south facing receiving ample sun providing slightly riper and juicier fruit.

2010 Bien Nacido Chardonnay Cases

We feel privileged to have access to this excellent and historic site in the santa maria valley. Our section, block w, was planted in 1973 and is self-rooted wente selection on alluvial soil, loam and river silt and is one of the oldest vineyards in the county. Owned and farmed by the miller family, bien nacido (meaning “good birth” in spanish) has long supplied fruit to some of the best producers in california. This bottling yields core citrus aromas of lemon and kumquat, gingerbread spice and a charming rusticity. The wine is juicy with a beautiful presence and will offer up several years of good drinking.

2010 Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir Cases

This wine showcases all the exuberance of santa rita hills and is a great entry level pinot noir. It is a blend of our vineyard holdings in the santa rita hills with over half the fruit from 40 year-old vines at the sanford and benedict vineyard with the rest coming from our sections and younger vines at rita’s crown and bent rock. It has bright, shiny, crunchy black raspberry fruit with great aromatic lift of fruit, flowers and cola spice.

2010 Bien Nacido Pinot Noir Cases

We feel fortunate to have an opportunity to work with the fruit from this historic vineyard in the santa maria valley. Our fruit comes from block 1, one of the original 1973 plantings, and is composed of selections from mount eden and pommard. This wine has a broad, enticing nose dominated by dark cherry and cola. It is sweet on the attack with a juicy, structured, umami like backbone. There is ample richness and complexity to also handle a wider array of cuisine.

2010 Sanford and Benedict Chardonnay Cases

Planted‎ in 1971, sanford and benedict is the oldest chardonnay and pinot noir vineyard in santa barbara county, and one of the most iconic vineyards in california. Its north-facing location at the epicenter of the santa rita hills appellation allows the grapes to ripen perfectly in the cool and foggy weather. The diatomaceous soil delivers smaller yields and clusters. Due to the vine age and own-root system, have an added intensity and complexity

2010 Sanford and Benedict Pinot Noir Cases

Planted in 1971 by the legendary and pioneering richard sanford, this site represents the oldest pinot noir plantings in all of santa barbara county and is largely synonymous with the creation of the santa rita hills appellation. Our sections both come from the oldest blocks (41 year old vines) where the vine trunks are gnarled producing small amounts of beautifully graceful, concentrated and textured fruit

Crown Valley Missouri Moonshine 750Ml

Crown valley distilling has produced a cuttingly fragrant; double distilled, malt whiskey. Simialr to whiskey produced by bootleggers during prohibition using sugar water and corn feed, but with a twist of elegance, our spirit is made from a blend of rye and barley, rendering a uniquely raw and chewy sweetness. Our malt whiskey is certain to appeal to the sophisticated connoisseur. Served neat with a splash of water or on the rocks, our whiskey signifies a sense of the "good old days" in every glass.
