Each performer is allowed two songs. Performers that don't use "songs" (comedians, poets, improvisational music, etc) are allowed up to 5-7 minutes for their set (we give them a five minute warning to let them know to wrap things up in the next 1-2 minutes). We provide: the pa system (mics, speakers, etc), guitar cables, an old beat-up piano, a host/sound engineer. Sometimes there are musicians hanging around to play for you if you are a singer without an accompanist. We don't provide: guitars, amps, drums. Unless you are a singer or pianist, bring your own stuff! Our format is best suited to solo and smaller group performances with acoustic instruments (guitar, piano, etc). We do not recommended full bands, however we will allow it as long as the musicians are respectful of others' time and space (and play at a respectful volume for the audience). Drummers must bring in their drums before open mic begins (8:30) and set them up off to the side as to make for a speedy transition and not disrupt others' performances. Open mic begins around 8:30pm and goes until the night dies down (usually 11:00-11:30ish). Any other questions can be emailed to the show's host willy o'riley at [email protected]

Honeysmugglers.net Facebook.com/honeysmugglers 10:30pm - Friday in america with a range of influences spanning from the band to the roots, friday in america fuse elements of folk, rock, reggae, and hip hop. The result is a menagerie of musical styles - from the heavy rock and funk arrangements of songs like "hitman" to the stripped-down folk of "water". In 2011, the band released their first full length album "cut the brakes", and had the track "water" featured in the closing scene of the afi-fest award-winning film the hammer, which told the true story of deaf ufc fighter matt hamill. The album's rock and folk arrangements have garnered comparisons to artists like jack johnson and bruce springsteen, and have received regular rotation on shows like scott regan's "open tunings" (npr). The band's love of all music and their ability to write and play across numerous mediums makes for a unique concert experience. They have opened for acts like max creek, ekoostik hookah, and the ryan montbleau band, and are constantly fusing their disparate influences in a groove-oriented framework. His current project, âthe chase,❠will be his second album of original compositions recorded by one of the hottest quintets of young jazz musicians working the new york city scene. Finzer toured with both the jazz at lincoln center orchestra featuring wynton marsalis, and on the north american/european tour of the internet phenomenon postmodern jukebox in 2014, and prepared his second album, âthe chase,❠set to be released in July, 2015 on origin records. Nick was selected as a recipient of both a 2013 & 2015 ascap young jazz composers award for his compositions âalternate agenda❠and âthe rampâ, which both appear on the album. Modern master trombonist wycliffe gordon called finzer âa new voice to the pantheon of upcoming trombone greats in the making,❠and called the album âa glowing example of things to come. Great compositions, playing, and overall leadership of the bandâ¦. The whole package.❠Gordon should know. In 2011 nick was the winner of the eastern trombone workshopâTMs national jazz trombone competition and was a finalist in the 2010 international trombone associationâTMs carl fontana jazz trombone competition.
